Table of Contents
Finding something to watch on Netflix just got significantly faster. The streaming giant has officially launched "Clips," a TikTok-style vertical feed designed to eliminate endless menu scrolling by serving up personalized video highlights. Following its initial announcement during the Q1 2026 earnings call, the feature is now rolling out alongside a major redesign of the mobile app's home screen.
The new Netflix Clips vertical feed acts as a personalized highlight reel, pulling short snippets from series, films, and comedy specials tailored to your viewing history. Instead of reading synopses or watching horizontal trailers, users can simply swipe vertically through bite-sized previews to discover new content.
How the Clips Feed Works
The update introduces a dedicated "Clips" tab in the app's bottom navigation bar, sitting right alongside Home, Search, and My Netflix. When a specific video catches your attention in the feed, the interface provides two immediate actions to streamline your experience:
- You can add the movie or show directly to your 'My List' without leaving the feed.
- You can share the clip directly with friends via standard sharing options.
Netflix has also confirmed that the Clips feed will expand in the future. Upcoming iterations will integrate podcasts, live programming, and curated collections based on specific genres or interests, such as romance.
Home Screen Redesign and Availability
Beyond the vertical feed, the mobile app is receiving a TV-style home screen revamp. The top of the interface now features dedicated category chips to streamline navigation. These new top-level filters include Shows, Movies, Podcasts, New & Hot, and a general Categories button.
The update is currently rolling out to users in the US, the UK, Australia, Canada, India, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippines, and South Africa. Netflix notes that the rest of the world will receive the update in the coming months. Because this is a staged server-side rollout, some users in supported regions may not see the redesign immediately, even on the latest iOS or Android app versions.
The Vertical Video Takeover
The introduction of Clips highlights a broader industry shift where traditional streaming platforms are adopting social media mechanics to boost engagement. By mimicking TikTok's highly addictive vertical scroll, Netflix is directly addressing the "choice paralysis" that plagues its user base. Instead of forcing users to commit to a 20-minute pilot just to gauge interest, the platform is leveraging its massive content library to create a frictionless discovery funnel.
This move not only keeps users inside the Netflix ecosystem longer but also provides a natural integration point for their growing podcast and live programming ambitions. As streaming services fight for attention spans, the line between social media feeds and premium entertainment platforms will continue to blur.
