Reporter Ajit at Phandroid has rounded up the five best wireless earbuds to buy in 2026, starting with the Sony WF-1000MX6 earbuds. The selection spans models from Sony, Bose, Samsung, Apple, and Beats for hands-free music, podcasts, phone calls, and physical activities such as workouts, dancing, and cooking.
According to Ajit, choosing the right pair requires looking beyond a secure fit to evaluate sound output, active noise cancellation (ANC), and extra device features.
1. Sony WF-1000MX6 Earbuds
In Phandroid’s roundup, the premium Sony WF-1000MX6 earbuds stand out for what Ajit describes as excellent active noise cancellation, driven by dual processors and eight adaptive microphones. He notes that the earbuds deliver balanced, accurate sound alongside an improved transparency mode and a better fit than the previous model.
Battery life reaches up to 24 hours of total playback when factoring in the charging case.
2. Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds 2nd Gen
According to Phandroid, the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds 2nd Gen provide arguably the strongest active noise cancellation available on earbuds, paired with a fairly accurate transparency mode. Bose includes nine combinations of eartips and stability bands to help users get a proper fit, though Ajit cautions that the battery life falls short and leaves users wanting more.
3. Samsung Galaxy Buds 4 Pro
Ajit names the Samsung Galaxy Buds 4 Pro as the top option for owners of Samsung Galaxy devices. The earbuds support Hi-Res Audio through a 24-bit hi-fi codec, Galaxy AI integration, and multiple customization options, while delivering what Phandroid characterizes as strong active noise cancellation and clear voice calls.
4. AirPods Pro 3
For Apple users, Phandroid calls the AirPods Pro 3 an obvious choice with exceptional active noise cancellation and improved battery life. According to the roundup, audio performance has stepped up with clearer sound and stronger bass, and the earbuds add Live Translation support along with an integrated heart rate sensor.
5. Beats Powerbeats Pro 2
Phandroid recommends the Beats Powerbeats Pro 2 for people who regularly work out or dance, citing a secure fit that does not easily slip out. Running on the Apple H2 processor, the earbuds include active noise cancellation, transparency mode, a built-in heart rate sensor, wireless charging support, and what Ajit describes as strong battery life.
