Apple CarPlay Adds ChatGPT, Google Meet, and Audiomack to Your Dashboard

Drivers looking to maximize their dashboard experience can now access three major Apple CarPlay apps that bring advanced AI, seamless productivity, and fresh music directly to their vehicles. If you have been frustrated by limited voice assistants or missing meeting links while commuting, this week's rollout of ChatGPT, Google Meet, and Audiomack offers a massive upgrade to your daily drive. Apple has officially expanded its in-car ecosystem, transforming the dashboard screen into a much more capable companion.

To access these new features, users simply need to ensure they have the latest versions of each respective application installed on their iPhones. Once updated, the apps will automatically populate on the CarPlay interface upon connecting to a compatible vehicle.

Starting with the iOS 26.4 update, CarPlay now officially supports voice-based conversational applications. OpenAI's ChatGPT is leading this charge, allowing drivers to engage in fluid, voice-based conversations with the chatbot while the app is active. Users can easily view the titles of their past conversations directly on the dashboard screen.

However, Apple maintains strict safety protocols for driver distraction. Because of these guidelines, the CarPlay version of ChatGPT will not display any text responses or generated images on the vehicle's screen, keeping the interaction strictly audio-based.

Professionals who frequently commute will benefit from the new Google Meet integration. The app allows users to join scheduled meetings with a single tap and view their upcoming daily schedule. Similar to ChatGPT, Google Meet restricts functionality to audio calls only, disabling video feeds to ensure driver safety.

On the entertainment front, Audiomack has officially expanded to the dashboard. Known as the 11th-most downloaded app in the App Store's Music category in the U.S., it brings a rich audio experience to the car with a heavy focus on independent artists, Afrobeats, and hip-hop. The CarPlay interface includes dedicated tabs for Discover, Charts, Playlists, and My Library, making it easy to navigate existing tracks or find new music on the go.

While currently limited to basic Siri-based commands, WhatsApp is actively beta testing a completely revamped CarPlay application. This upcoming update will significantly improve usability by moving beyond simple voice prompts.

The revamped app displays visual lists of recent chats and phone calls directly on the screen. Additionally, the new interface will feature a dedicated tab for favorite contacts, reducing the friction of initiating messages or calls while driving.

The addition of these specific applications signals a major shift in how Apple views the in-car experience. By integrating ChatGPT, Apple is acknowledging that drivers want more dynamic, conversational AI interactions than traditional voice assistants currently provide.
