Genshin Impact 7.0 Hotfix Rescues Players from Snezhnaya Archon Quest Soft-Lock

Genshin Impact 7.0 Hotfix Rescues Players from Snezhnaya Archon Quest Soft-Lock

Players trapped by a progression-blocking bug in the new Snezhnaya region can finally move forward, as HoYoverse has deployed an emergency hotfix for Genshin Impact Version 7.0. The weekend patch specifically targets a critical soft-lock in the latest Archon Quest, alongside visual glitches affecting mobile users.

During the "Use Prime Ice Constructs to prop up the door" objective, a flaw in the resource spawning system left players stranded. If the destructible Prime Ice was cleared before meeting the puzzle requirements, it failed to respawn, halting all progress. To resolve this, developers added a permanent, repeatedly destructible Prime Ice location to ensure the required resources are always available within the instance.

Beyond the quest itself, the update normalizes the spawn density of Prime Ice Constructs across Snezhnaya's open-world exploration zones. HoYoverse also reduced the frequency of the accompanying on-screen text signs and icons, cutting down on notification spam during general gameplay.

How to Apply the Fix and Monitor Known Issues

  • Apply the Patch: Log out to the main title screen and log back in to force the hotfix download. This resolves the abnormal facial patterns seen on Sandrone and Mitya during dialogue on certain Android devices.
  • PC Flickering Workaround: If you experience severe screen flickering upon entering Snezhnaya on a PC with Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics, HoYoverse recommends manually updating your graphics drivers via Intel's official site. A permanent patch for this is slated for a future update.
  • Pending Cosmetic Fix: A minor visual bug displaying the incorrect elemental icon for Mitya during the "Wraith's Nocturne" cutscene remains unresolved and will be addressed later.

The Cost of a Flawed Region Launch

Deploying a weekend emergency patch highlights how critical the Snezhnaya expansion is to the game's current retention strategy. A soft-lock in a flagship Archon Quest is the worst-case scenario for a live-service title, as it directly blocks the primary narrative pipeline that drives player engagement and subsequent monetization.

While the rapid response mitigates the immediate damage, the lingering Intel Iris Xe optimization issues suggest that Version 7.0 may have been pushed out the door slightly undercooked. Balancing a strict six-week release cadence with the massive scale of a new region often forces developers to triage bugs, prioritizing progression blockers over hardware-specific visual defects.
