Shoppers looking for a reliable laptop without the premium price tag of an Apple model can currently find a significant discount at Walmart. The retailer has dropped the price of the Lenovo V14 G5 14-inch FHD laptop to $629, a 37 percent discount that takes nearly $370 off its original $999.99 price. According to Lifehacker, the machine offers versatile processor performance that makes it a highly underrated option for the price.

### Performance and Connectivity

The laptop is powered by a 10-core Intel Core i7-13620H processor, which features six performance cores, four efficiency cores, and a maximum turbo speed of 4.9GHz. Lifehacker notes that this chip makes the system more powerful than many 14-inch laptops in the same price range, allowing it to handle heavy multitasking, data-heavy office work, and light video or photo editing. The system includes 16GB of DDR5 memory and a 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD for storage, all powered by a 47Wh battery.

For connectivity, the Lenovo V14 G5 supports Wi-Fi 6 and features a solid selection of ports. The layout includes two USB-A ports, one USB-C port, an HDMI 1.4b port, and a combined headphone and microphone jack.

### Design and Display

The laptop weighs around three pounds and measures 0.7 inches thick. This lightweight profile is partly due to its plastic build, which Lifehacker points out may not feel as durable or premium as an aluminum chassis, though it remains a reasonable tradeoff for a device priced under $650. The conventional keyboard layout is designed for office use, catering to users who do not need touchscreens or convertible hinges. It also features a physical webcam shutter for added privacy.

While the 14-inch FHD display has a relatively sharp resolution and an anti-glare coating, Lifehacker cautions that the panel technology is somewhat outdated. Because it has limited contrast, the screen may not be the best choice for designers, photographers, or video editors.

### Who It Suits

For buyers who do not mind a few cost-cutting compromises, the discounted Lenovo V14 G5 strikes the right balance between performance and affordability. Lifehacker recommends it as an everyday personal or office laptop for users who need a strong processor, a lightweight build, and a practical port selection.
